The Deke Houlgate III Memorial
November 27, 1955 - October 11th, 1997
Deke was one of my great friends, a kindred soul and a uniquely talented artist.
Click for some of the artwork he did for the Las Vegas Sun, where he worked in the 90s,
and for his unfinished project Just Another Saturday Night.
Below are five of his art pieces. The top three are computer creations, while the two below that are pen & ink drawings I scanned.
Aztec Beauty, donated by his brother John, singularly reflected the theme of ancient Mexico that often reoccurred in Deke's art.
I recently received a couple of graphics from a an old bandmate of Deke's from the early 1980's. Those are also below.
