This set of photographs was taken in late 1970, in a little unnamed seaside village on the peninsula outside of Da Nang adjacent to Deep Water Pier, where all the freighters docked. I "adopted" the folks in this little village, bringing them food and treats for the kids. After having spent most of my tour out in the field, it was a pleasure to spend some time off in this little village, swimming and fishing and playing with children. The kids always crowded around whenever I showed up, as much to ham for the camera as for the treats I always brought with me.
